THE CHALLENGE

In 2017, Hua Dong Teksid Automotive Foundry Co. Ltd chose the Magaldi’s casting cooling technology to increase the quality and enhance the performance of the production process in its foundry in Zhenjiang, China, in order to face the challenging market requests.

 

THE CUSTOMER

Located at the Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone of Jiangsu Province, Hua Dong Teksid Automotive Foundry Co. Ltd is a modern foundry enterprise dedicated to the professional manufacturing of cast iron cylinder blocks for sedans and light vehicles.
Annual manufacturing target for the Company is 1.6 million pieces of various cylinders with an aggregate weight reaching up to 75 thousand tons.
Adopting advanced manufacturing technologies, Hua Dong Teksid is committed to becoming a domestically leading and internationally competitive cylinder block supplier.

 

THE SOLUTION

For the new moulding line in its Zhenijang plant, Hua Dong Teksid awarded Magaldi a contract to supply its casting cooling technology to improve the engine block cooling process.
Downstream the shakeouts, two vibrating feeders collect clusters and transfer them on the MCC® (Magaldi Casting Cooler).
Vibrating feeders are equipped with a cooling tunnel to start cooling castings before their arrival on the MCC® so to increase the overall performance of the cooling system.
Vibrating feeders and the MCC® have been designed to create a unique 54 meters long tunnel, held under negative pressure, where a continuous flow of 40 t/h of castings undergoes a temperature drop from 450 °C to 80 °C.
At the end of the tunnel, a 19 meters long uncovered Magaldi Superbelt® allows operators to perform de-gating by means of manipulators and casting sorting. The belt, moving slowly and operating without any vibration and with a noise level ≤65 dB(A), represents a perfect work table.
Moreover, the MCC® is equipped with the MISS® (Magaldi Integrated System) to automatically control the operational cooling parameters and adjust the belt speed and the air capacity to properly cool castings down at the required temperature.
