STEEL BELT CONVEYORS FOR SEVERE CONDITIONS since 1929

JIANGSU PROVINCIAL ELECTRIC POWER Co.

THE CHALLENGE

The Jiawang power plant represented one of the most advanced examples of fluidized bed combustion technology, with boilers provided by Harbin. The challenge was to apply the Superbelt® -based dry bed ash technology to CFB combustion boilers. Given the magnitude of the challenges that it presents the Jiawang FLUIMAC® project represents still today one of the most successful projects accomplished by Magaldi Power.

THE CUSTOMER

Jiangsu Electric Power Company constructs, operates and manages power grids in Jiangsu province, in the People’s Republic of China. The company was founded back in 1988 and is one of the oldest of its kind. It is based in Nanjing, China. Jiangsu Electric Power Company operates as a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China.

THE SOLUTION

Installed in 2003 & 2004, these systems serve a 4x135MW CFB plant and represent the second full-scale application of the Superbelt® -based dry bed ash technology for CFB combustion boilers, the so called FLUIMAC® system. Each boiler features two drain pipes and is therefore equipped with two FLUIMAC® extractors.
Both extractors discharge the bed ash to a common Ecobelt® steel conveyor belt. Then the bed ash is transported to a bucket elevator and discharged into a storage silo. Thanks to the installation of the FLUIMAC® systems, that ensures a complete dry and friction-free bed ash extraction, the plant accomplished the goal of recovering up to 3,000,000 Btu/h of energy, which is in turn sent back to the boiler.
Today the FLUIMAC® installations at Jiawang power plant still proudly show the Magaldi Power flag, demonstrating that when the issue comes to absolute product dependability, state-of-the-art technology and in-depth knowledge, in China too, the dry bed ash system means Magaldi technology.
