Magaldi Superbelt®

The Magaldi Superbelt® is a steel belt made of partially overlapping steel pans bolted onto a steel double-wire mesh, thus forming a virtually sealed conveyor belt.

The patented method of connecting the pans to the mesh belt leaves all elements free to thermally expand in any direction without permanent deformation. As a result, the Superbelt® withstands temperatures higher than any other known conveyor. Its design is based on a multi-link concept. Even if the double-wire mesh is severely damaged, the conveyor continues to run without sudden failures and the plant operators can schedule its maintenance according to operation needs.
Moreover, the steel belt is supported by carrying idlers across its entire width in order to withstand heavy mechanical loads.

Next to the loading points, the idlers can be closely spaced or mounted on a shock absorber frame. The Superbelt® conveys materials very slowly without any vibration or shaking, thus no dust is released externally and noise is at minimum levels. This contributes to a healthy and more comfortable working environment for plant operators. In the foundry sector, the Magaldi Superbelt® “P Type” - inclined up to 35° - is used to charge and feed the sprues into the crushers. Usually, the conveyor is continuously fed by means of boxes ≥1 m3 overturned into a transition hopper or directly by an upstream feeder.

The main advantages of the Magaldi Superbelt® as applied to crusher feeding are:

- High dependability due to a perfect sealing between the overlapping steel pans that avoids any impingement of the sprues. 
- Inclination up to 35°, thus limiting its overall footprint. 
- Continuous feeding of sprue crushers with relative enhanced performance. 
- High resistance to heavy mechanical loads. 
- Noise and power demand are at minimum levels compared to alternative solutions.
