STEEL BELT CONVEYORS FOR SEVERE CONDITIONS since 1929

ESTAMCAL

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge of this project was to handle hot forging parts.

THE CUSTOMER

Estamcal is a Spanish Client that, at the beginning of 2008, requested a quotation for eight conveyors to be installed in a new forge plant.

THE SOLUTION

After detailed review of the feasibility studies, Magaldi realized that the standard Superbelt® conveyors would have been too big for the space available and the project would have resulted too expensive to follow the original configuration requested by the Client.
Therefore, Magaldi proposed to change the general arrangement with a solution that could meet the Client’s requirements and provide a cost-effective solution, based on small custom-made conveyors in order to make the project feasible.

Process description
At the press discharge, the forgings are initially deposited onto two Magaldi Superbelt® conveyors, pending the downstream annealing process. Three Magaldi conveyors are installed along the line, including the heat treatment furnace and the cooler, in an environment that is controlled in order to achieve the proper hardness and metallurgical properties. A second line follows the single cooler via a further Superbelt® conveyor. At the outlet of the annealing process, the last Superbelt® conveyor loads the shot blasting machine for the subsequent activities.
A total of eight Magaldi conveyors are installed at Estamcal’s plant.
Successfully commissioned in September 2008, all conveyors have been working to the full satisfaction of the Client since then.
