Compared to traditional hydraulic or pneumatic
mill rejects handling systems, the Magaldi MRS is the first
qualified mechanical conveying system featuring high dependability
and low operating and maintenance costs. The mechanical, low
speed conveying is realized with the use of the Superbelt technology.
The rejects discharged from coal mills are collected
in transfer tanks (one for each mill). A transition duct transports
the rejects onto the downstream SUPERBELT® conveyor. The transfer
tanks are equipped with double knife gate valves at the inlet
and outlet, to isolate the mill (at positive pressure) from
the downstream equipment (at atmospheric pressure).
A fire detection and protection system can be
provided. From the transfer tanks, the material is extracted
by vibrating feeders for controlled feeding of the belt conveyor.
The belt feeding rate is adjustable in order to optimize the
system performance.
Temperature and level sensors provide the input
signals to the automatic control system.
The SUPERBELT® technology, well proven in hundreds of severe applications, assures the dependable handling of any size and quality of mill rejects even if very hot.
Alternate solutions, may be offered to accommodate client preferences and project specific requirements, as separating tramp iron and coal dust.
The MAGALDI MRS, including the bucket elevator and the storage silo option, are in operation at a number of power stations with unit sizes up to 550 MW.
The MAGALDI Superbelt Technology
The principal component of the MAGALDI MRS is
the SUPERBELT®, which receives
and transports the mill rejects from the mill trough a transition
duct.
